Gul Panag will be the official tweet for the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, India’s premier fashion event which starts this Saturday in Delhi. She will tweet continuously from a variety of venues at the event, keeping fashionistas in direct contact with the stars, designers and news as it unfolds. “The biggest high is that using my Twitter account, I will be able to beat most other media in reaching out to people,” she says, “That’s the power of the new age media and I am glad I am a part of it.”
Gul likes to be at the forefront of fashion trends herself and has recently taking the bold step of cutting her hair short. “Going short requires guts in India,” she explains, “Men here find long hair sexier, so women just comply. Personally, I’ve had very long hair, then cut it short. It’s more fun, doing different styles.”
The Maths graduate and former Miss India is developing an interesting line in her movie career. She appeared in the excellent Manorama Six Feet Under, based loosely on Chinatown; and more recently was probably the best thing in Hello based on Chetan Bhagat’s One Night At A Call Centre, for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Award. Coming up soon, she has RGV’s big budget Rann which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh and promises to be a breathtaking expose of the media.
