Once again the age of Hansika Motwani comes into the news but this time with less speculation. You all may recall the shock on audiences faces when they saw one of their favourite child artists grow up and appear as a leading lady in Aap Ka Saroor and many argued she wasn’t ready for it at 16 but the girl has powered on and now has flourishing career. Recently the actress turned 18 and was absolutely psyched to share with the media all the reason why she’s been waiting for this day!

Speaking to Hindustan Times and Mid-Day the actress said that she’s been looking forward to this for various reasons but what may surprise everyone was that one of the reasons was not a rowdy party like many look forward to. In fact, the actress has been looking forward to this to exercise her constitutional rights of voting and take on the many social responsibilities that she is obliged to take. The celebrations for the big day have been rather simple, the birthday girl as usual started with a visit to the Siddhi Vinayak Mandhir followed by a very quiet day with her parents and friends.

Ask her about the many controversies about her turning from a star kid to a leading actress and she says, “Even when I turn 60, they’ll call me a child actor. But I’m what I am today only because I started out as a child actor. Now, I can do much more than what a child actor does.”

As for studies and films the actress shared quite a bit of info in her statement. “I was busy preparing for my 12th board exams then. And I used to attend regular classes in school. Since I come from an educated background, I love to study. I’ve finished 12th standard from Poddar International and enrolled for BA in political science in Cambridge University, London. It’s a correspondence course and I’ll go to London for my exams once a year. That way I can devote more time to films,” she said.

Furthermore her career down South seems to be getting better and bigger by the minute. Recently she was seen in the role originally essayed by Helen and Kareena Kapoor for the Telugu remake of Don, Billa, which has been one of the highest grosser of the year. She also has two other releases lined up and on the verge of signing a major Hindi film.

Well, life definitely cannot get better than this at only 18! Makes you wonder if she’s achieved so much in just 18 yrs what will she achieve in a full-fledged career length?
