Often described as Bollywood’s love story come true, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary today. The couple, who was last seen on-screen together in the super-hit Guru, is rumoured to have flown to the US to an undisclosed location to see their third year of wedded-bliss begin with style. Abhishek’s last tweet stated, “…It’s Houdini time again. Have managed to abduct the wife. See you all soon.”
Bachchan Junior proposed to the former Miss World after the premiere of Guru and the rest, as they say, is history. April 2007 saw Bollywood fans around the world witness the most anticipated event in India’s history. The two lovers, both huge stars in their own right, got married in a very private ceremony with close industry acquaintances and family friends seen attending.
The couple was invited by Oprah Winfrey on to her show in 2009 as the world’s most famous couple in what was their first ever television interview post-marriage. On the show, they shared their love for time spent at home with family and friends as well as Jaya Bachchan’s rule that if all four of them (including Paa Bachchan) are in the same city, then they have to have one meal together.
The first look of the couple’s forthcoming movie, Raavan, was released just two days ago with Abhishek’s look grabbing much of the attention. The film, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam, is a modern day version of the epic Ramayana and boasts music by Oscar-winning maestro AR Rahman.
Mr and Mrs Bachchan are thought to have planned their getaway and they will return to mark the release of Raavan‘s music on 24 April. We wish the star couple a very happy 3rd anniversary and look forward to hearing Rahman’s magic once again in the soundtrack of Raavan.
