There’s only one thing Abhishek Bachchan wants for his birthday – and it’s not something that can be easily wrapped up with a bow.

“I’d like to do more work with my wife Aishwarya.” the actor says. “The advantage of working with Ash is that the two of us get to make a good film together (Guru, Sarkar Raj, Raavan) and on the personal front, I also get time to spend with my wife.”

Whether Abhishek gets his one birthday wish any time soon, remains to be seen – Aishwarya’s schedule is looking packed, with Guzaarish, Action Replay and Endhiran already taking up her time.

Indeed, finding the time for the super-couple to work together may be the biggest hurdle the junior Bachchan faces in getting his birthday wish. As Abhishek enters his 35th year on February 5th, he also enters one of the busiest phases of his career to date. Having recently made a hugely popular television debut hosting National BINGO Night, Abhishek is also scheduled to appear in no less than 5 films this year: Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Crooked; Karan Johar’s Dostana 2; Abbas Mustan’s remake of The Italian Job; and two as yet untitled projects from Anurag Basu and Rohan Sippy. Plus Raavana, reported to be one of the most ambitious films of Mani Ratnam’s career, releases worldwide in June, putting leading man Abhishek firmly in the spotlight.

At only 34, having garnered critical acclaim for his role starring opposite his famous father in Paa, and earning a reputation for being a star who can succeed in a wide array of genres – be it comedy, thriller, or drama – the Junior Bachchan says he feels truly blessed that, being young, he still has plenty of years ahead of him to continue to make “cinema that I believe in”.
