Today is Asin’s birthday – and the young star now has two long-awaited movies in the post-production stage – Ghajini and London Dreams – as the shoot for the latter was wrapped up five days early. “I never thought that I would be able to come back to Mumbai on my birthday,” she says, “The unit was so professional and well-planned that we wrapped up the shoot five days in advance and I was able to fly back to Mumbai and celebrate at home”
So how does she plan to celebrate? “I will be celebrating my birthday by having a quiet dinner as usual with my parents”. In fact, she has already had a birthday party as the cast and crew threw her a surprise party before she left. Organised by Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, it was also attended by British Culture Minister, Barbara Follett.
During her time in London and Paris, Asin admits to having become a bit of a shopaholic, snapping up designer bargains wherever she could. She also visited the Bollywood waxworks exhibition at Madame Tussaud’s. Meanwhile, Asin is still considering whether she should take up the offer of starring opposite Vijay in Vettaikaran for a staggering 2 crores. “When I get back to Mumbai in November I will have a detailed story discussion session with the makers,” she says, “I also have another Hindi movie on hand that starts shooting from February 2009. So I have to see if my dates can be adjusted.”
