Being one of the most awaited films of 2014, the release of Farah Khan’s Happy New Year was assumed to take mass audiences to cinema. But any expectations have been surpassed by reality.
With a collection of around 45 crore on the first day of release, the film starring Shah Rukh Khan has broken all the records and become the highest opening day grosser ever, beating Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3, which collected 36 crore on its opening day in 2013.
Red Chillies Entertainment, responsible for the production of the film, has enthusiastically announced the box office collection details on Twitter:
#HNY records history with biggest first day in Indian Cinema! Collects whopping 44.97 Cr (India)! Thanks for the love!
