Hard Kaur may have been born in India but she has the matter-of-fact personality and blunt accent of her Birmingham upbringing. Straddling the two disciplines of acting and singing, she is rapidly developing into one of the most intriguing personalities in Bollywood. Having done the title track ‘Follow Me’ for Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, as well as ‘Glassy’, ‘Move Your Body’, ‘Singh is King’ and others, she is now set to act opposite Akshay Kumar in Hello India.

Hard Kaur is a social activist in the realm of women’s rights and recently supported a function on behalf of the NGO Fight Back. “I want to reach young women through my music and get them involved in the mission of economic empowerment of women and girls, and ending racism,” she says, “I think sexual, racial, gender violence and any type of discrimination and violence in a culture cannot be eliminated without changing culture.”

Hard Kaur is feeling good at the moment as she has just won Eastern Eye’s poll on the Hottest Thing in Music. “I don’t let these things affect me,” she explains, “I just feel that in every game the spectators make the most noise. I am just glad that my talent has been recognised and I want to thank people for all their love and support.”
