Prime Video, India’s largest streaming service for exclusive Originals, today unveiled the trailer of its upcoming Hindi Original series Chaar Yaar—a high-stakes crime drama that blends friendship and ambition with slapstick humor, high-speed car chases, thrilling heists, and a glimpse into the seedy underbelly of the criminal world. Starring Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub, and Prayrak Mehta in the lead, alongside Sai Tamhankar, Sikandar Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang, Chunky Panday, and Bhagavathi Perumal in pivotal roles, the eight-episode series is directed by Vinay Waikul and written by Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant. Produced by Pranati Nagarsheth, Niraj Nagarsheth, and P.S. Shyam, under the banner of Pink Window Production Pvt. Ltd. and developed by BBC Studios India, Chaar Yaar is created by Vinay Waikul, S. Hussain Zaidi, Sambit Mishra, and Saurabh Sawant.

In the bustling streets of early 2000s Mumbai, where big dreams collide with hard realities, four friends—Jay, Tony, Saahil, and Sameer—are bound by an unbreakable friendship and united by ambitions that stretch beyond their middle-class beginnings. But when a desperate decision, driven by their circumstances and ambitions, takes them down an unexpected path, their ordinary lives spiral into a dangerous world of crime, gangsters, and high-stakes heists. Before they know it, they find themselves caught between the menacing dons of Mumbai’s underworld and Inspector Sumati Bhalerao hot on their trail. As plans unravel, dangerous encounters escalate, and high-speed car thefts leave them scrambling to survive, the four friends must navigate a world far removed from anything they’ve known, where one wrong move could cost them everything. With powerful gangsters closing in on one side and the police tightening their grip on the other, their biggest challenge may be holding on to the friendship that brought them this far. But when survival is at stake and every choice comes with a price, can these chaar yaars outsmart everyone?

“With Chaar Yaar, we wanted to tell a story about the uncertainty of life and the thrill of exploring it. Life happens to four friends, and before they know it, they are in a situation that’s way bigger than anyone ever imagined. The only thing that can get them out of it is the bond of friendship. This mix of personalities, both conflicting and complementing at the same time, makes the ride a total whirlwind. It was great working with such a talented ensemble, from our four leads to actors like Sai, Sikander, Dibyendu, and Chunky, who brought so much to their characters. We’ve had a lot of fun bringing this world to life, and I’m excited for audiences to watch the series and experience the journey for themselves on Prime Video,” added Vinay Waikul, creator and director.

Prayrak Mehta, who plays Jay, said, “What excited me about Jay was that he’s so different from the characters I’ve played before. He’s a man of few words, someone who thinks before he speaks and always has a plan. He’s the person his friends turn to when things go wrong. But I think we’ve all had moments where we were so convinced we knew what we were doing, only to realize how wrong we were. That’s what makes Jay so interesting to me. His intelligence is his biggest strength, but it can also become his weakness. As an actor, I love characters who challenge me, and Jay goes through such a transformation that at times it felt like I was playing three different people. I am super excited about Chaar Yaar, and what I love most is that beneath all the crime, action, and chaos, it’s a story about four friends trying to make something of their lives. I think that’s something a lot of young people will connect with.”

Saqib Ayub, who plays Tony, said, “I’ve done plenty of action and stunts before in Farzi, Bambai Meri Jaan, and Undekhi, but Chaar Yaar brought a different kind of energy, with its car chases, large-scale sequences, and fast-paced action. Getting into Tony’s skin and figuring out his mannerisms was equally enjoyable. And more than anything, Tony will always be special, as he gave me a chance to play an ordinary Bombay boy after mostly playing flamboyant characters in the past. Special thanks to Vinay sir and Mukesh sir for seeing Tony in me. The shoot was a great experience, both for the physical challenges, car chases, never-ending night shifts, and the time I spent with my co-stars. I hope audiences enjoy the adrenaline and unpredictability of the series as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life.”

Purav Jha, who plays Saahil, shared, “After years of creating content, Chaar Yaar feels like a special milestone for me, especially after The Traitors. It’s my first major release as an actor, something I’ve always wanted to do. Playing Saahil pushed me to explore a completely different world, with the action training challenging me in new ways. I also learned a lot from Vinay sir and had a wonderful time working with Saqib, Naman, and Prayrak. I can’t wait for audiences to see this new side of me and discover Saahil’s journey.”

Naman Jain, who plays Sameer, said, “Sameer is someone who can find humor even when everything around him is going wrong, and I had a lot of fun exploring that side of him. He brings a different energy to a story filled with intense situations, but he’s got his own problems and different shades as a character as the show progresses. A character like Sameer is rare to find and rare to play, and what I’ve explored through this character is so different than all the characters I’ve played before. Off screen, the four of us developed a natural camaraderie, and the banter between us made our time on set even more enjoyable. I’m grateful to Vinay sir for bringing us together, and I can’t wait for audiences to meet Sameer and see what he brings to the gang.”

Chaar Yaar will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi, across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide, on October 23, 2026.
