Last year, we bought you a review of India’s number one Rockstar Himesh Reshammiya’s year 2014. Seeing that he has had another exceptional year, we thought that we should do the same for 2015!
Himesh’s year began with the song ‘Bulbul’ for the film Hey Bro. This was the second time that he sang for a music director other than himself (remember he sang ‘Photocopy’ for the film Jai Ho) and it was the first time that he worked with music directors Nitz n Sony. While the film didn’t do too well, the song ‘Bulbul’ was well liked by his fans.
Moving on from ‘Bulbul’, there was a brief gap until the music of All is Well. A T-series film, Himesh gave three songs to this soundtrack (‘Baaton Ko Teri’ Arijit Singh, ‘Tu Mila De’ Ankit Tiwari and ‘YOLO’ Sreeram Chandra). Himesh’s three songs were very much noticed and in particular, ‘Baaton Ko Teri’ has numerous covers at YouTube further showcasing the songs popularity!
Next came the housefull concert tours! Himesh performed in international venues in Fiji (two dates) and New Zealand (one date) in May, along with popular singer and Surkshetra discovery Aman Trikha and India’s RAWStar finalist Akasa Singh. Himesh then continued to perform across India (New Delhi, Noida, Surat etc) as crowds flocked to enjoy a performance from India’s Rockstar!
Himesh surprised all with his super fit new look as he returned to TV, as a judge, on the show ‘The Voice India’ along with colleagues Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan and Mika Singh. The show followed the international format of ‘The Voice’ and was hosted by Karan Tacker. The show became popular amongst music lovers and Himesh’s phrase ‘Dhina Dhin Dha’ that he often said on the show, became a much needed boost of energy for all the judges and contestants alike! He recently won the Best Judge award for The Voice India at the 14th Indian Telly Awards.
Then came the big album that won the hearts of every music listener: Himesh gave the music to Rajshri productions much awaited family drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Himesh not only went back to his traditional roots to compose the songs, but also composed them in the old fashioned way with regular sittings with director Sooraj Barjatya, lyricist Irshad Kamil and all musicians and singers. The songs from the album have been widely appreciated and Himesh recently won the ‘Big Star Entertainment Award 2015’ for Best Music for the film!
As the year draws to a close, Himesh continues to treat us to his music in the forthcoming Eros International film Sanam Teri Kasam. He has also recently announced that his next film as an actor, will be Teraa Surroor 2 and the film will be released in March 2016. If you are a Himesh Reshammiya fan there is plenty more to look forward to! Stay tuned to BollySpice for all the official updates on our favourite multi talented musician.
