One music director who has had a wonderful year is none other than the multi-talented Himesh Reshammiya.
Himesh began the year by singing the song ‘Photocopy’ for the film Jai Ho for music directors Sajid-Wajid. This was the first time that Himesh had sung a song outside of his own compositions, that too in Gujarati and not in Hindi. The song had singer Palak Muchhal accompany Himesh on the vocals and went on to become very popular from the album!
It was then the moment that all loyal fans had been waiting for, to welcome Himesh the actor once again! Himesh had prepared himself for the role of Ravi Kumar in the 1960’s style thriller, The Xpose. Himesh stunned everyone with his super sleek new look, as he shed a massive 20kgs for the role of a suspended cop turned superstar. The film garnered a super hit response at the box office and the music of the album (which was also highly appreciated), featured Himesh as a singer, accompanied by Rekha Bhardwaj, Mohd Irfan, YoYo Honey Singh, Mohit Chauhan and many more.
After The Xpose, came the Sajid Khan comic caper Humshakals. Once again, Himesh showed his innovative style with the peppy ‘Caller Tune’ and ‘Hum Pagal Nahin Hai Bhaiya’. Songs like ‘Piya Ke Bazar Main and ‘Just Look into My Eyes’ are perfect party tunes.
Next came the much awaited album of Kick. The Salman Khan starrer featured Himesh as the main music composer and Himesh certainly did not disappoint, as he gave two chart topping songs ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ and ‘Tu Hi Tu’. Both compositions are of opposite music genres and have been widely appreciated by all. Whilst ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ featured 6 rythmic changes, ‘Tu Hi Tu’ was a soft slow number with heart touching lyrics written by lyricist Mayur Puri.
Apart from music releases, Himesh also made appearances at musical reality shows. Voice of Bangalore and India’s RAWstar caught his attention. Due to the ill health of good friend YoYo Honey Singh, Himesh stepped in as mentor in the new musical reality show of India’s RAWstar. After appearing on the show as a special guest, Himesh was appreciated so much by the contestants that he was chosen as the replacement of YoYo Honey Singh. During the show, the audience not only saw Himesh encouraging and supporting the contestants, but also promising three of them (Akasa Singh, Rituraj Mohanty – winner & Darshan Raval), that they will be singing for him very soon.
Himesh also gave many concerts this year. He not only performed with talented singer Aman Trikha in Rajnandgaon but also performed in Kuwait with singers Palak Muchhal and Mohd Irfan. The year has ended on a high note with Himesh’s chartopping music for the Prabhudheva and Ajay Devgn film Action Jackson.
After an exciting 2014, we are now looking forward to Himesh’s music for All is Well, The Xpose 2 and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015!
