In recent times, rumors have been floating around alleging that upcoming film Hindi Medium has been a copy of the Bengali movie Ramdhanu.
Director Sanket Chaudhary has come forward to clear any misunderstandings regarding this and had this to say, “Hindi Medium is a story about how education that is supposed to be a tool of enlightenment has become a tool to create inequality. This inequality is created on the basis of English schools versus regional language schools, private schools versus government schools. We have researched our script over a year and it is based on original material. I would request everyone involved to not rush to a judgement without ascertaining the facts. And the facts can easily be confirmed by watching Hindi Medium on 12th May.”
The movie Ramdhanu‘s story revolves around The Right to Education Act whereby the issue involving parents and children being interviewed for admission should be abolished to ensure enrollment for all in both private and public schools. This however saw a protest from the private schools stating their right to run their establishment themselves and hence this Act was revised and made non-applicable to them.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Dinesh Vijan and stars Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, Amrita Singh and child artist Dishita Sehgal.
