Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of Hamza, still months after the release of the Dhurandhar franchise, continues to remain a talking point across the film industry and fans. Speaking about Ranveer Singh’s performance, Abhishek Banerjee said, “It’s one of the best performances I’ve ever seen and Ranveer Singh, what he did, I think it’s one of the best. I don’t have anybody to compare with. It is his best.”
When asked whether he felt Ranveer’s iconic Alauddin Khilji from Padmaavat was better than Hamza, Abhishek had a clear answer. He said, “Trust me, this is more difficult than Khilji. As an actor, I can tell. I don’t know whether he’ll agree to it or not. But I think Khilji, whether, see, I’m saying Khilji, if he didn’t do it, somebody else did it, Khilji would still be Khilji. Hamza, on paper, no matter how good he is, you have to really, really, you know, be at it to get those emotions out. Especially the scene where, the second part, how it starts and he starts killing for his sister. The rage, I have not seen something like that in a long, long, long time.”
Abhishek’s words underline what has made Hamza such a memorable character. Hamza is Hamza because of Ranveer Singh.
