From one A.K. to another, Imran Khan is looking for inspiration in playing a Casanova and found it in senior actor Akshay Kumar and not uncle Aamir Khan. In his upcoming film, I Hate Luv Storys opposite Sonam Kapoor, Imran plays a flirt who is attracted to women incestuously. According to sources, Imran kept Khiladi Kumar in mind when playing a flirtatious dude. “Imran plays a flirt or a womanizer in my film. He’s a 23-year-old who looks and flirts with every pretty girl that comes his way,” was exactly how director Punit Malhotra described Imran’s character in his debut directorial film.
As a reminder, Akshay Kumar had been “linked” to a number of actresses including Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Sushmita Sen, Pooja Batra and a few more before he finally settled down in maritial bliss with Twinkle Khanna. For this very reason, Imran looked to Akshay for immense inspiration as he played a similar character. Punit Malhotra went on to laugh off this comparison and claimed, “Actually I think Imran is playing himself.”
It was Imran himself who went on to admit that he did in fact, decide to “base” his character of Jay Dingra on Akshay Kumar. “I have met him twice and I found him to be very cool and chilled out. The character needed to be like that, so it was a good fit,” he justified.
