Nineteen years after making his debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor reunites with the filmmaker in Love & War, this time transformed by Bhansali, who has sculpted a striking new screen avatar for the actor: a commanding leading man at the centre of his most ambitious love story yet.
The newly unveiled character posters offer the first glimpse of Ranbir’s character: cool, intense and enigmatic, framed in blue and bearing the unmistakable mark of a bullet wound.
But while the visual hints at a man who has already been through battle, the music tells us something different. Accompanying the poster is a smooth, retro rock-and-jazz-inflected track with a distinct ’70s feel – cool, unhurried, and suave. Rather than amplifying the wounded, brooding quality of the image, the track plays against it, giving Ranbir’s reveal a laid-back confidence and effortless attitude.
