From the maker of British TV classics Birds of a Feather, Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Lovejoy, a new seven part comedy series, Mumbai Calling, hits our television screens on 30th May 2009.
Sanjeev Bhaskar, Nitin Ganatra and Daisy Beaumont star in this brand new comedy broadcast in primetime on ITV1. The series features a huge Indian cast as well as guest appearances by a host of familiar British faces across the seven weeks including Richard E Grant and Dennis Lawson, Indian Superstars Lilette Dubey, Chunky Pandey and Raj Zutshi (Slumdog Millionaire) and rising star Via Das.
Kenny Gupta, played by Bhaskar, is about to find out exactly what happens in a Mumbai call centre. He is dispatched to India to turn around Teknobable, a failing company being run by Dev Rajah (Ganatra) – a manager more interested in chasing his female staff and using the centre for his own profitable side lines. The arrival of Terri Johnson, an assessor from London HQ (played by Beaumont), only adds to their problems.
Mumbai Calling was filmed entirely on location in Mumbai and was created and produced by Allan McKeown Presents Ltd.
