In Zoya Akhter’s Luck By Chance, Isha Sharvani plays the daughter of a Bollywood diva, Dimple Kapadia, who is pushed into the industry. This is in complete contrast to her own background. “In real life, I’m an outsider in the industry,” she says, “My debut has been a case of ‘luck by chance’. Had Subhashji not spotted me for Kisna, I’d never have joined the industry.” And has she found the going hard? “The struggle is harder from scratch without anyone to believe in your talent,” she agrees, “I don’t have any godfather in the film industry. I consider myself lucky to have got to do Zoya’s film.”

Luck By Chance, which stars Farhan Akhter as a struggling actor trying to break into Bollywood also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Hrithik Roshan in a substantial part. However, the set hasn’t been so lucky with the Mumbai weather. “It was raining very heavily the day we were shooting for a song sequence and the entire set that was created was washed out,” says a source, “Since the shot was that of a circus we had set up a tent, which was soaked in water.”

Isha trained as a classical dancer at her parents arts and dance school near Vellayani Lake. “For 11 years I trained eight to 10 hours a day in a very disciplined atmosphere where there was no distinction between boys and girls,” she explains. Last year, she appeared in U, Me Aur Hum and before that in Rocky:The Rebel.
