Unfortunately, 2008 has not been a particularly great year for Bollywood with small-budget films like Jannat, Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na, Phoonk and 1920 doing well whereas big-budget films such as God Tussi Great Ho, Kidnap, Drona and many more have been huge flops. Even Singh Is Kinng has entailed huge losses to its distributors, something not many people know. Except Punjab, all India distributors have lost heavily thanks to the hefty price at which they had bought the film, which could not be recovered even after its full run.
But as Diwali rolls around, many are hoping things will turn around. It’s Diwali time and numerologist Niraj Mancchanda, the influential man who titled the big blockbusters such as Krrish and Heyy Babyy says “It’s Diwala on Diwali!”. In an exclusive to BollySpice.com, Niraj gives us his box office predictions for this jam-packed Diwali season.
Fashion (Release Date: October 29)
According to Niraj, Fashion comes to the number 30 which is an average number, so expect average merits for Fashion. Madhur Bhandarkar (director) is a number 8 and this is not a great year for him. The movie will perform much below expectations. Going by the hype from the promos, Niraj’s revalation certainly comes as a shocker!
Heroes (Release Date: October 24)
Heroes comes to number 27, a very strong number which vibrates with the director (Samir Karnik) but not with the producer, so the chances are 50:50. This means it will either be a hit or a flop, with no chance of being average. The film is only the first of two multistarrers releasing this Diwali.
Golmaal Returns (Release Date: October 29)
The first installment of Golmaal had worked in Mumbai city and was a flop in all-India. It looks like the producers made a sequel to make money and give distributors losses again. Now Golmaal Returns comes to number 49 and 4+9=13 which means expect the unexpected. Since everyone is expecting good things from it, expect the bad! It’s more bad luck for Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor!
Roadside Romeo (Release Date: October 24)
When no one went to see Tashan which also had Saif and Kareena, then who is going to watch their voice on a dog and a bitch? Yash Raj Films’ first animated flick Roadside Romeo comes to number 52 which means disaster, so this film will be flop at the box office. On a brighter note, Aditya Chopra’s directorial Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will be the biggest hit of 2008 because it comes to number 42 which vibrates with both Yash Chopra, who is number 9, and Aditya Chopra, who is number 3. It’s also the same as the number of their earlier blockbuster Dil To Pagal Hai.
