It’s Raining Sequels

Sequels in the past have worked—Lage Raho Munnabhai, Krrish and Dhoom 2 being good examples, and then have not worked or have not lived up to their hit reputation—remember Phir Hera Pheri and Golmaal 2? Sequels have become a favorite amongst directors who prefer to keep to a similar plot and star cast.

2009 will be no different. 7 sequels to successful prequels are on the way to be scripted, casted and to hits floors in the coming year. Ready for the list?

John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan are ready to bring on more Dostana fun as director Tarun Mansukhani is currently in the planning stages of his sequel. Although, he is unsure of casting Priyanka Chopra in the lead, he is more than excited to take the chemistry of Abraham and Bachchan forward into a new crazy situation.

Race is on its way to becoming Race 2 and has already been re-casted with Kareena Kapoor playing an integral part. Ramesh Taurani of Tips Productions claims the script is already being written and will have the original star cast except for those who had died in the prequel.

Thriller 13B will not have a sequel but a trilogy—13C and 13D. In fact, 13C is not only ready but on its way to hit the floors while 13D is in the midst of being scripted. Both will star Madhavan in leading roles.

Krantiveer of yesteryears, starring Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia is also going to have a second inning and will have a brand new fresh cast, it will be renamed Krantiveer — The Revolution.

Shahid Kapoor is said to have been approached by the Barjatya Camp for a sequel to the legendary Hum Aapke Hain Kaun.

Besides the mentioned, Don 2 directed by Farhan Akhtar and Drona 2 by Goldie Behl are said to be on their way to being made in the near future.
