In the red corner we have Ranbir Kapoor and in the blue corner is Imran Khan. Both contenders hail from filmi-families, both are roughly the same age, both are friends, both are vying for the same audience… Ranbir and Imran are now due to battle it out at the box office on 9th September, with Ranbir in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Imran in Aditya Chopra’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.
Although Imran had a better start through Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na vs. Ranbir’s Saawariya, so far the odds have been slightly stacked in Ranbir’s favour, as he’s managed to deliver a few more hits (Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, Raajneeti) than Imran. Ranbir is also leading in the endorsements sector and is the brand ambassador for as many as nine products, versus Imran’s one!
The other title Ranbir and Imran are apparently battling it out for is for Hindi cinema’s next gay icon! With the Kal Ho Na Ho act and Dostana following successfully afterwards, the gay icon tag is big! So far the gay community seems to prefer Ranbir Kapoor, especially so after his towel dance act in ‘Jab se tere naina’ from Saawariya, however a box office hit from Imran over Ranbir may just change that balance…!
