With the iconic ghazal Koi Fariyad recreated in Rekha Bharadwaj’s voice for T Series produced Tum Bin 2 creating a whirlwind effect in the music industry, Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar have decided to team up together and pay a first of its kind musical tribute to Late Jagjit Singh on his 5th death anniversary on October 10. It’s a known fact that the second installment of the Tum Bin franchise has brought to life this evergreen ghazal in the official teaser of the film by garnering close to 10 million hits in a span of 5 days and being an instant hit with the youth bringing back the age of romance. Moreover the biggest superstars of Bollywood, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan gave their nod of approval by officially launching the teaser.
Titled Tum Bin Misses Jagjit Singh, the strictly by invite only concert will feature some of the stalwarts from the music industry and will be aired live for fans to witness the ethereal magic coming to a full circle.
Our sources inform us that singers like Arijit Singh, Rekha Bharadwaj, Ankit Tewari, Mika, Talat Aziz amongst others will pay homage to the musical maestro on October 10th apart from Vishal and Rekha Bharadwaj performing a duet together for the first time. High profile dignitaries from the film, music, business and sports fraternity are expected to attend the glamour studded event scheduled to be hosted at Rang Sharda. Koi Fariyad was Late Jagjit Singh’s most favourite ghazal and since he couldnt end a concert without this ghazal, the tribute will also feature Koi Faariyad presented in different musical renditions.
Anubhav Sinha of Benaras Media Works states, ” Yes we are hosting a tribute and it is my humble gesture of giving back to the music industry through a cult film that enjoys a legacy of timeless music.”
Bhushan Kumar of T Series states, “This is the first time I have witnessed audiences waking upto the music in such a magical way. It takes a week generally to ascertain fan reactions to the music of the film but in this case we have taken just a day which is phenomenal in every sense. Koi Fariyaad has challenged the perception of what the music consumption of the youth really is especially if a Ghazal can garner close to 10 million hits.”
Interestingly Faaiz Anwar had to pen the lyrics of the reinvented ghazal close to 80 times and it was the 81st time when Anubhav gave his nod of approval and Late Jagjit Singh spent close to 72 hours on crafting the ghazal to Anubhav’s liking.
The original ghazal was composed by Nikhil Vinay and written by Faaiz Anwar . The recreated version was done using Late Jagjjit Singh’s voice recorded in 2000.
