Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated sequel Jailer 2 has officially entered the elite club of the highest-grossing dubbed Tamil films in the Telugu states. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the action-comedy has pulled off massive box office numbers despite starting with relatively slow advance bookings in Telugu.
The film’s immense run puts it right alongside legendary Telugu-dubbed blockbusters like the original Jailer, 2.0, and Coolie.
The Telugu-dubbed version has been raking in consistent revenue, pulling in ₹8.50 crore to ₹8.75 crore daily during its theatrical run. It drew a sensational opening share of ₹9 crore in the Telugu states alone right after release.
Despite joining the top hits list, the film still has some distance to cover due to a steep acquisition price. The Telugu theatrical business needs another ₹20-25 crore gross to hit formal profitability, a target heavily influenced by whether or not the current GST burden gets alleviated.
