Jay Sean Headlines BBC Asian Networks’ London Mela!

BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast presenter, Tommy Sandhu, today revealed the full line-up for the station’s Main Stage at the London Mela 2011, with Jay Sean headlining the stage, in his first Asian event performance for more than three years.

The Hounslow-born artist performs in front of a home crowd at the Gunnersbury Park, Ealing event on Sunday 4th September, with a 45 minute set, including exclusive material from his forthcoming album.

Jay Sean says, “I’m so excited to be coming back to London to perform in front of my home crowd! They’ve been with me from the beginning and I’m looking forward to giving them an amazing show!”

Other Main Stage highlights include, Bhangra superstar Jazzy B returning to the London Mela for the first time since 2002 to perform exclusively from his new album and new sensation Garry Sandhu makes his Mela debut. Local Southall-based Bollywood playback star Ash King will perform hits including ‘Te Amo’ and Mumzy Stranger is joined by protégé Junai Kaiden with a live band. Station presenters Tommy Sandhu, Noreen Khan, Sonia Deol and Murtz host the Main Stage throughout the day.

BBC Asian Network will be broadcasting live from backstage 2-9pm, with performances and interviews from all Main Stage performers. The Asian Network website (www.bbc.co.uk/asiannetwork) will host a live webcast from the stage.

In other highlights, the Asian Network’s Mix Tent, hosted by BBC Asian Network and Radio 1’s Nihal, features the best in Urban Asian talent including Shide Boss, Pure Music Generals and Kamal Raja, alongside station DJ’s Kayper, Sonny Ji, Dipps Bhamrah and Kan-D-Man & Limelight.

BBC Asian Network’s Bobby Friction hosts the BBC Introducing Stage at the London Mela, which plays host to the best in emerging and unsigned talent for a second year, with full line-up to be announced on Friction tonight from 10pm.

BBC Asian Network will also film the Main Stage for a BBC TV Red Button special broadcasting from Monday 5th – Sunday 18th September, and will be revealing plans for more exclusive Jay Sean content shortly, including an ‘In Conversation With’ Tommy Sandhu at the BBC Radio Theatre, Broadcasting House on Friday 2nd September. The special Jay Sean ‘In Conversation With’ follows on from other successful sessions with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and more as part of a series of A-list Asian celebrity interviews.
