Jeet Ganguly, arguably the better-half of the former Jeet-Pritam duo feels the title song of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, the film that clocks ten years on June 12, just happened. “Some film songs have such vibes that as a composer, I think, we don’t create anything, it comes from above. A composer can never learn composing. A composer can learn playing guitar, playing piano, but a musician can never learn how to compose.So this song, I believe is a gift from God. At that time, at that moment, he gifted us this raga.”
Elaborating on how the song was created Jeet says, “When I was listening to the story of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Mahesh Bhatt Sahab was listening to the story and I had a guitar in my hand. While listening to this story, first of all the raga of Hamari Adhuri Kahani came to me. This Bhatt Sahab said, which raga is it? Everyone was crying after listening to this song. But that day this song was locked. But I was very scared because this was the last part of the song. I came home from the music setting. I was trying very hard how to start this song. How to begin the tune? So I don’t know how this raga came to me while I was sleeping at night. The first four lines, this raga came to me in my dream at night. At that time I did not have a guitar in my hand. There was no harmonium, no piano. So I got this raga in my head. And at night I woke up my wife. I told her – give me the mobile, I have to record. She said – what will you record at night? I said, this raga came. I recorded this raga at that time. Everyone liked it very much. Now there was another part in the middle. So these were the three parts of the song. When I composed it, the first part was the last part. This was a stresspoint for me. I will never forget this. Whenever I go to a show, and when this song comes at the end, when everyone sings together, it feels like a homecoming.”
Adding, “So this, Hamari Adhuri Kahani is one such film, one such song, which got a lot of love and blessings from everyone. It has been ten years. So I will pray to God to give me strength to create even better tunes.”
