14aug_JDJ7-MaryKomHaider01Saturday’s show opened with the contestants waiting to learn the results of this week’s face-off. The audience learnt that the bottom two contestants this week were Akshat and Tara.

Tara and Jack were the first to perform in the face-off. Their chosen dance style was contemporary/freestyle and their song medley featured the following songs – ‘Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si’, ‘Chahun Main Ya Naa’, ‘Uff Teri Adaa’. As always, the judge’s scores were saved and would be revealed only after their performance.

Akshat and Vaishnavi were next to perform. Their chosen dance style was freestyle and their song was ‘Sadda Haq’ from Rockstar. They were dressed as animals fighting for a piece of meat. It was then time for the scores to be revealed. Akshat received a full 30 marks from the judges and Tara received 27 marks. Tara was eliminated from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

The judges appreciated Akshat’s act as it was high energy and well choreographed. They felt Tara’s performance lacked the extra punch that was needed. Judge Remo said the competition is getting tough. The judges also said the immunity ball would be given to the right contestant this week, who in future, may be in the face-off but the ball would let them be safe and change the decision.

14aug_JDJ7-MaryKomHaider21The special guest of Saturday’s episode was Priyanka Chopra who had come to promote her film Mary Kom.

Ashish and Shampa were the next to perform. Their chosen dance style was Yakshagana which is a particular dance form that requires an elaborate costume. Shampa had also requested for their dance guru who is well versed with Yakshagana to make sure they are not lacking anything in their performance. Their chosen song was ‘Aata Majhi Satakli’ from Singham Returns. In their act, Ashish was playing the role of Yamraj (the God of death) who was waiting for dead people to arrive but no one was coming at all (hence the song ‘Aata Majhi Satakli’ which is a Marathi phrase meaning ‘I have lost my mind’). The judges applauded Ashish and Shampa for this terrific performance. They particularly loved Ashish’s expressions. Ashish was awarded 27 marks.

Hosts Manish and Ranvir then requested special guest Priyanka Chopra to play a tug of war with Akshat. Akshat then danced with Priyanka on ‘Raghupati Raghav’ from Krrish 3.

14aug_JDJ7-MaryKomHaider06Next to perform are Shakti and Tusshar. Their chosen dance style was Freestyle. They represented caterpillars and their struggle for survival in a human world. The judges said it was a beautiful concept and message. Shakti was given 30 marks.

After Shakti and Tusshar, it was time for Mouni and Punit to perform. Their chosen dance style was Paso Doble. Their act was based on a pack of cards where Mouni played the Queen of Hearts and Punit represented the Joker of the pack. The judges said it was a very dark and sinister act and they appreciated the unique choreography. Mouni was awarded 27 marks.

It was then time for Karan and Bhavna to perform. Their chosen dance style was contemporary and freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi’ from Guzaarish. Their act was based on the iconic film Edward Scissorhands. The judges said it was a very emotional act but could have included more dance. Karan received 24 marks.
Host Manish then reminded Priyanka that Karan is a big fan of hers. As Priyanka plays a boxer in her forthcoming film, she took the challenge of punching Karan as a boxing bag! The judges participated as well.

Next to perform were Sophie and Deepak and their chosen dance style was freestyle. Their chosen song was ‘Zoobie Doobie’ from 3 Idiots. Sophie and Deepak were dressed as cats and their act incorporated the use of a frame. The judges loved the costumes but felt the dance was very weak in this performance and the choreography was too simple. Sophie was awarded 24 marks.

14aug_JDJ7-MaryKomHaider02Before the show ended, the director of Mary Kom Omung Kumar came to promote his film. The audience learnt that he had made the set of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Priyanka and Madhuri then performed on ‘Ram Chaahe Leela’ from Goliyon Ki Ram Leela Raasleela. Performance of the day was given to Akshat and Vaishnavi.

Sunday’s episode opened with hosts Ranvir and Manish and their usual banter. First to perform on stage were Karan and Bhavna. This is the first week where the contestants performed twice on both episodes. Karan and Bhavna’s chosen dance style was freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Dhadang Dhadang’ from Rowdy Rathore. Their act was based around the dialogue ‘teen cheezein ke peeche kabhi mat bhagna…‘ (The theme for this episode was dialoguebaazi from Bollywood films). The judges said it was a very enjoyable performance and Karan is very comfortable in this dance form. Karan was given 27 marks.

Then special guest Shahid Kapoor made his entry. He had come on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa to promote his forthcoming film Haider. Soon after, Shraddha Kapoor also joined Shahid on stage.

Next to perform were Shakti and Tusshar. Their chosen dance style was contact improvisation (this meant they would be physically connected throughout the act) and their chosen song was ‘Ishq Bulaava’ from Hasee toh Phasee. Their dialogue was the ‘…aur paas…’ from the film Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The judges loved the performance as they felt it was very fluid and very well choreographed. Shakti was given 29 marks. Shakti then requested if she could dance with Shahid Kapoor as she is a big fan of his. They danced on ‘Tumse Hi’ from Jab We Met.

14aug_JDJ7-MaryKomHaider04Then it was time for Mouni and Punit to perform. Their’s was a very emotional act as Mouni had recently lost her Father. She had therefore dedicated her act to him. Their chosen dance style was contemporary and their chosen song was ‘Jee Le Zara’ from Talaash. The judges said it was a very emotional tribute as Punit had played the role of the Father in the act. Mouni was given 30 marks.

Next on stage it was Sophie and Deepak. Their chosen dance style was Hip Hop and their chosen song was ‘O Pardesi’ from Dev D. They had a very unusual costume where their arms were kept together and they were both wearing a mask. The judges loved the performance as it was a visual treat which had very neat footwork. This was important as well because their facial expressions could not be seen through a mask. Sophie was given 27 marks.

Host Manish then asked Shahid and judge Remo to do the moonwalk on stage as Sophie had done it during her act. Both of them (naturally!) did a very good job!

Next to perform on stage were Akshat and Vaishnavi. Their chosen dance style was freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. They had incorporated Sunny Deol’s famous dialogue in their performance and Vaishnavi had come dressed as judge Remo! The judges loved this entertaining performance. Akshat was given 30 marks. Akshat also danced with Shraddha on a song from Haider.

Last to perform were Ashish and Shampa. Their chosen dance style was disco/freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Disco Dancer’. Ashish was playing the character of a typical South Indian man. The judges loved this quirky performance a lot. Ashish was given 29 marks for his performance.

The audience then learnt that each contestant would receive an extra partner next week in the Teen Ka Tadka theme. The new partners were Dadi from Comedy Nights with Kapil, Ellie Avram, Mukti, Crystal D’Souza, Sana Saeed and Faisal.

The judges decided to give the golden immunity ball to Mouni and Punit.
