This week’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa featured the contestants dancing on remixed music that was created especially by Music Directors Sachin-Jigar. Saturday’s show opened with the contestants dancing on the song ‘Dil Garden Garden’ from Kya Super Kool Hai Hum. Music Directors Sachin-Jigar, were warmly welcomed on the show.
Hosts Ranvir and Manish then realised that all the female contestants were not seated in the contestant area. The audience was then shown, that backstage, all the ladies were following Palak’s brother, Kiku Sharda! Kiku had come to replace Palak on the show and he had impressed all the ladies already! Naturally, hosts Ranvir and Manish were disappointed with this development!
It was then time to get back to business, and see who would be in this week’s face-off. The face-off was determined by last week’s votes (there was no elimination last week) and scores. Kushal and Puja were in this week’s face-off.
First to perform were Sophie & Deepak. Their chosen dance style was Jive/Freestyle and their chosen song remix, was ‘Jadoo Ki Jhappi’ from Ramaiya Vastavaiya. The judges said it was a very good performance, but there was a lack of coordination in a few places. The performance was very entertaining overall. Sophie was awarded 26 marks for her performance.
It was then time to welcome the special guest, Rani Mukherjee on the show. Rani had come to promote her latest film Mardaani. Rani was warmly welcomed by the hosts, judges and contestants on the show.
Next to perform on stage were Mallishka and Diwakar. Their chosen dance style was Freestyle and their chosen song was ‘Psycho Re’. The judges felt that it was a good effort, but Mallishka needed to give a serious dancing performance now.
Judge Karan then requested judge Madhuri to dance with Rani on the song ‘Kabhi Neem Neem’ from Yuva. Judge Madhuri then revealed, that Rani had indeed sung this song for her husband Aditya Chopra at their wedding!
Next on stage were Shakti & Tusshar. Their chosen dance style was Kalaripayattu/Chau and their song was a remix of the Mangal Pandey theme. Their act had Shakti playing the role of Arjun and Tusshar was playing the role of Krishna. The judges applauded this performance and said it was outstanding! They also noted that the song only had one section remixed. Shakti naturally was awarded 30 marks.
It was then time for Karan & Bhavna to perform. Their chosen dance style was Stomping/Krumping and their remixed song was ‘Ghanan Ghanan’ from Lagaan. Their act was a tribute to all the farmers who wait for the rain. The judges appreciated Karan’s performance and said he performed very well with his new choreographer Bhavna. There were still a few mistakes, but overall, it was a very good performance. Karan was awared 24 marks. Karan then recited the famous dialogue for Jab Tak Hai Jaan for Rani Mukherjee. Judge Karan and Rani performed on the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai title song.
Next to perform, were chota packet Akshat and Vaishnavi. Their chosen dance style was Gangam style/Freestyle. Their chosen remix song was Faltu title song. The judges said it was an amazing and entertaining act. There were a few places where the coordination could have been better. Akshat was awarded 27 marks. He also danced on the song ‘Nach Baliye’ with Rani.
Hosts Ranvir and Manish, then reminded judges of the golden ball as no one had received it yet. Performance of the Day was awarded to Shakti & Tusshar. The show ended with all the judges, hosts and contestants dancing with Rani Mukherjee and celebrating her wedding.
Sunday’s episode opened with a live performance from Music Directors Sachin-Jigar. They performed their song ‘Saibo’ from Shor in the City. Host Ranvir then asked host Manish, to try dancing Robotics style. Host Manish then requested Ranvir to try dancing Indian classical style. Needless to say, both failed at their attempts! It was then time to introduce the first act of the episode which was Mouni & Punit.
Mouni & Punit’s chosen dance style, was Semi Classical/Robotics and their chosen song remix was ‘Teri Galliyan’ from Ek Villain. Their act was based on a girl dancing with a statue. The judges loved the concept, the choreography and the execution of the act. Mouni was awarded 30 marks. Host Manish was asked to sing a Bengali song and he sang ‘Tu Ne Maari Entriyan’ from Gunday, in Bengali! Host Ranvir asked Mouni to show off her expression through classical dance, which she did ever so gracefully. Host Manish then requested judge Madhuri to do the same as she is known as an expert in the field of classical dancing.
Next to perform were Kiku & Kruti. The audience were shown a conversation between Palak and Kiku, which had Palak giving instructions to her brother! Kiku and Kruti’s chosen dance style was Hip Hop and their chosen remixed song was ‘Johnny Johnny’ from It’s Entertainment. The judges loves the performance as it was non-stop dance. The audience were told that it was judge Remo who had choreographed the original song in the film. Kiku was given 26 marks.
Music Directors Sachin-Jigar then performed a jugalbandi on stage, and it was time to welcome the next act which was Tara & Jack. Their chosen dance style was Hip Hop/House and their chosen remixed song was ‘Char Bajgaye Lekin Party Abhi Baaki Hai’ from Faltu. The judges loved the power packed performance. They said it was very well choreographed. Tara was awarded 30 marks.
It was then time for the face-off between Kushal & Puja. Kushal & Moena were first to perform. Their chosen dance style was Afro and their chosen remixed song was ‘Bezubaan’. Their act was based on saving the tigers and Kushal and Moena were both dressed as tigers. As always in a face-off, the judges scores were locked and would only be revealed after Puja had performed.
Next it was time for Puja & Rajat. Their chosen dance style was Freestyle and their chosen remixed song was ‘Khoon Choosle’ from Go Goa Gone. Their act was based on how many office workers dread Monday. The scores were then revealed. Puja received 25 marks and Kushal received 29. Puja was eliminated from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
The audience then learnt that Kushal is part of an NGO and some of the children from the NGO, had come to watch the show. Judge Madhuri met them, and danced on the Aaja Nachle title song wih them.
It was then time for the last act of the evening. Ashish & Shampa were ready to perform. Their chosen dance style was Paso Doble and their chosen song remix was ‘Phir Mohabbat’ from Murder 2. The theme of their act, was about fighting with one’s inner self. The judges felt it was a very dramatic performance and they noted it was not easy to convey your thoughts always. Ashish was given 24 marks for his performance. Mallishka then tried her hand at flirting with Ashish as she said she is really impressed by him! The hosts Ranvir & Manish, showed a conversation between Shakti & Mouni, where Ashish emerged as their favourite contestant too.
