One of the most highly anticipated films ever is the Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Bachchan starrer Jodha Akbar. It is an epic film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and was supposed to release this week. The film being the grand spectacle it is needed a bit more time to get completed, much to the sadness of fans, but many were treated to glimpse of the film when the promo released in theaters.
Everyone has raved at the incredible scenes that were shown in the trailer as well as how perfect Hrithik and Aishwarya look in their roles. The promo has scenes from many parts of the movie that look visually stunning and are filled with electricity. You see the richness of the palace, battles between Jodha and Akbar, battles being prepared to be waged, a love story unfolding, a defiant and beautiful Aishwarya, a Hrithik who disappears into the role of Akbar and looks amazing, there are battles with elephants, gorgeous costumes and jewelry and that is just a small sample. Seeing it one is almost stunned by the details and the beauty.
According to Faridoon Shahryar of IndiaFM, “ Spectacular is a small word to define the theatrical trailer of Jodhaa Akbar. For one hasn’t seen such opulent grandeur in a long time. Right from the first frame till the last of this three and a half minute trailer, the efforts that seem to have gone into this love story or the “marriage of alliance” between one of the most charismatic Mughal rulers and the princess of arch rivals Rajputs, is simply unbelievable.”
Talking about JA, Gorwariker said that he consulted many historical experts so that he was true to the era however; “The background is steeped in history. But the characters are mine. No one knows how Jodha or Akbar behaved. I’ve to imagine their romance, the palace and harem politics. I’d say 20 percent is history, 80 percent is my imagination.”
About his two stars, “There’s a certain royal quality to Hrithik’s face and body language. As for Aishwarya, she’s to me the quintessential princess – straight out of Amar Chitra Katha – the distressed princess waiting in her chamber. Though we’ve seen her in so many avatars, as Jodha she’s something else. Hrithik and Ash are amazing together,” Gorwariker said
Many are wondering if an historical period piece will do well with audiences, to that Gorwariker replied, “ To me the period is not relevant. The story has to connect with me emotionally, romantically and dramatically. Besides, how many films set in the present times work? So, if I’ve to fail, I might as well do so while doing what I want to do.”
Adding, “It’s a historical catered towards the youth around the world. And I want to break the myth that history is boring.”
We certainly are going to have a long 3-month wait until January 25th but will exist on any of the treats that will be released until then!
