Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee with Karan, came back with a bang in it’s third season. What with the golden Bachchan couple, Abhishek and Aishwarya, gracing the couch in the first episode, the chat show host seems to have gotten more ambitious with his guest-list for this season.
However, Johar’s banner, Dharma Productions, is geared up to pay homage to his father, Yash Johar’s Agneepath. “I wanted to pay a tribute to my dad. Agneepath was a landmark for our company and Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) also won a National Award for his performance”, Johar says.
Rumours were finally put at rest lately when it emerged that heart-throb Hrithik Roshan would be part of the remake. When asked whether he had approached the original Vijay Dinanath Chauhan for the role, Johar said he hadn’t done so. Johar explained that Bachchan senior was aware of the remake and he clarified that the Bachchans were in no way upset that Roshan had been cast in the role.
It is perhaps difficult to comprehend why Johar had chosen not to direct the venture himself, instead handing the responsibility to script-writer Karan Malhotra. Johar revealed, “If a star like Hrithik accepted the film in one hearing, it speaks loud and clear on Karan’s talent”. Malhotra was Johar’s most valuable assistant at Dharma and Johar believes that his script has more than done justice to the epic.
Johar also disclosed that he hasn’t yet started working on his next venture. He explained that he has many other responsibilities to tackle first, one of which being Koffee with Karan Season 3. Johar is also concentrating on the designing of his next collection as well as being anchor at various award functions which will start as the new year begins.
