We all remember John Abraham’s emerging-from-the-sea scene in Dostana. It seems that for the first time, the female gaze was what the director and writer of the film, Tarun Mansukhani, was trying to achieve… and achieve he did! Abraham’s chemistry with Junior Bachchan also added to the appeal of the movie. When New York came along, the audience saw a very different character being played and Abraham received much praise for his performance.
Following Dostana and New York, the hunky star seems to have been lying low. It is safe to say that Abraham appears to have taken a bit of a back-seat since New York and perhaps become a little bit choosy with his roles… or has he? Well, this year is going to be a pretty busy one for the Parsi heart-throb. Abraham has signed a record 12 films ranging from comedy to science-fiction. He will coming together with ex-Miss World Priyanka Chopra once again in Saat Khoon Maaf, as well as doing a boys-flick by Rohit Dhawan. Dostana 2 is also on the cards and Abraham will start shooting for that in July.
Abraham’s excitement is hard to contain, “It’s not about the number of assignments, but the quality of work I do… I won’t be able to face my audience if they go away disappointed. So yes I’m doing three films one after the other this year starting with Nishikant Kamat’s film and then going on to Dostana 2. On the day Dostana 2 ends, I start shooting for David Dhawan’s son Rohit’s Desi Boys with Akshay Kumar. It’s a busy year”.
Abraham fans will be ecstatic to hear that he will be gracing their screens so many times in the coming months. We wish him well with all of his forthcoming films and look forward to the fun and frolics of Dostana 2 later in the year!
