Actor Sandeepa Dhar recently opened up about a meaningful piece of advice she received from veteran actor Neena Gupta while shooting for their upcoming Netflix series Chumbak.
Speaking about their conversations on set, Sandeepa shared how Neena’s perspective on work and destiny left a lasting impression on her.
Recalling the moment, she said, “Neena Gupta says this to me very often, she said you know I had done this one random film, student film somewhere and because of that I got Badhai Ho. So she’s like, kaunsi film, kaun dekhe, kahan pe, kuch nahi keh sakte hai. Tum bas kaam karte raho, tumhara kaam as an actor is to just keep working and do good work so that somebody somewhere will watch that thing and would feel like maybe you’re right for something else.”
The advice, rooted in experience and patience, reflects Neena Gupta’s own unconventional journey in the industry, one where persistence and passion eventually led to one of her most celebrated performances in Badhaai Ho.
For Sandeepa, the takeaway is simple yet powerful focus on the craft, not the outcome. In an industry often driven by instant validation, this reminder to “just keep working” stands out as both grounding and motivating.
Interestingly, Sandeepa was recently seen in Do Deewane Seher Mein, where she played a strong and substantial role alongside Mrunal Thakur and Siddhant Chaturvedi, further showcasing her versatility as a performer.
The two actors are currently shooting for Chumbak, a Netflix series that brings them together for the first time, though details of the show are still under wraps.
As Sandeepa continues to explore diverse roles, this piece of advice from Neena Gupta seems to have become a guiding mantra one that reinforces faith in the process and the unpredictability of opportunities in cinema.
