Abhishek Kapoor, the director of the upcoming film Kai Po Che! has stated to the Indian media that despite enjoying the filmmaking process, it was not an easy film to make. “It is (has been) a difficult film to make and it took me more than two and a half, three years to put this story together.” “I think if you are not going to take a risk, you are not going to do anything new or path breaking. I think it was very important for me to make this movie, especially because it has got newcomers. Above everything else, I think it is a very important story to tell.”

The film is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘The Three Mistakes of my Life’ and will feature new and unheard of actors in the leading roles. They include television actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, Raj Kumar Yadav and Amrita Puri. Abhishek stated that transforming Bhagat’s popular novel into a film was a sturdy task and one which required a great amount of time and dedication. “After I read the story, I felt that it is a good story and a film should be made on this. But it was not easy. To adapt a popular book into a film is an altogether different process.”

Kai Po Che! is slated for release on 11th January 2013. It will therefore be clashing with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which stars Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma. Which one to watch first will certainly be a tough task for filmgoers!
