Ladakh known as ‘The Roof of the World’ is holding Ladakh International Film Festival’ to bring a great change in the region. They have been able to mobilize locals, organizations, film fraternity worldwide and the Government to host such an event to the benefit of many. The festival will act as a platform to increase manifold inbound tourism in India. Ladakh is branded as the hottest destination in the world and to couple it up with the most popular medium of entertainment in the world is being hailed as the winning formula.
The festival is chaired by Govind Nihlani with eminent people like Shyam Benegal in the panel of Patrons. The Chairman of the Jury is Shri Jahnu Barua. Besides there is an International festival team unlike any Film festival in India. The endeavor is to draw attention to Ladakh whose pristine beauty & spell bound magic equals to the splendor and grandeur of cinema.
Since Ladakh is growing as a world tourist destination the focus is on environment and ecological balance. They have snow leopard as their Mascot. The first ever endeavor as a green international film festival, in India thus making Ladakh, a melting pot for cross- cultural cinematic experience to be cherished by all in years to come. In these three days festival (15, 16, 17 June) near about 60 films were screened chosen from all over the world.
