The International Film Festival of India kicks off in Goa on November 22nd. Rekha will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony which will also be attended by top Southern actress Ileana and hosted by Bollywood’s Amrita Rao, fresh from her triumph in Welcome to Sajjanpur. Kamal Hassan will be the chief guest for the festival itself.
Kollywood is strongly represented at the festival. Firstly, the Hindi film, Dil Ek Mandir, by top Tamil director Sridhar, who recently passed away, will be shown as a tribute and in the competition, Kancheevaram by Priyadharshan will also be shown.
Amongst other highlights at the festival will be the world premiere of the Bengladeshi film Rupantor and the opening movie will be Hong Kong cineaste Peter Chan’s The Warlords. Peter will also chair the festival jury. Ang Lee’s Lust Caution will be the mid-Fest highlight movie and the closing movie will be the Iranian film The Song of the Sparrows by acclaimed director Majid Majidi.
