Kantara Crosses All Monopolistic Limits In Screen Sharing

Distributors and exhibitors in North India are shell-shocked by an email that they have received from the North Indian distributor of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, demanding, a near-monopoly of theatres and screens.

The manager of a prominent multiplex spoke out on condition of anonymity. “They’ve basically asked us to give all the shows to Kantara and none to the other release next week, Karan Johar’s Sunny Sankari Ki Tulsi Kumari. This amounts to a monopolistic trade practice , which is against the law.”

So how do the movie theatres intend to combat this threat?

“We are told that producer Karan Johar will meet the makers of Kantara over the weekend to negotiate. But if the Kantara team insists on grabbing most of the shows, we will have no choice but to drop Sunny Sanskari altogether,” says the multiplex manager.
