Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are no strangers when it comes to working on projects together. They may both be producing the upcoming film Student of the Year but the last time Karan directed his closest friend was in 2010’s super success My Name Is Khan. Rumour has it that Karan intends to put an end to the wait by casting SRK in an upcoming project.

Karan’s project is not to be one of his stereotypical romances, which SRK has starred in, but rather something more unusual. It was reported earlier this year that four of the industries top directors would come together to work on a feature film to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. Those directors are Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee. The feature film, titled Bombay Talkies will be split into four segments between the directors. Each will have their opportunity to present their interpretation of the rise of the film industry over the 100 years. Each segment will then come together to form the full project of Bombay Talkies.

It is understood that Karan Johar’s 20 to 25 minute directorial will star Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role while it is also understood that Zoya has her cast confirmed with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif making an appearance. Anurag and Dibakar are yet to confirm the casts of their segments but rumour tells that Imran Khan will feature is Dibakar’s film.

Each of the directors fictional take will prove to be unique as their styles are very different from each other. Once each film is completed the final feature Bombay Talkies is expected to release in the first half of 2013.
