Kareena Kapoor Khan stars alongside Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran in the dark crime thriller movie Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on September 18, 2026, with the official trailer dropping on August 31, 2026.
She is also in advanced talks to star opposite National Award-winning Tamil actor Dhanush in a large-scale jungle adventure film produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Early in her career, she delivered one of her most celebrated performances in the film Yuva, directed by legendary Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam.
While Kareena is actively leaning into pan-Indian projects today, she previously stepped away from a few massive South-centric blockbusters. She was originally the first choice to play the crucial role of Yash’s sister in the movie Toxic, finally played by Nayanthara, but she mutually parted ways with the team due to conflicting date schedules.
She was supposed to play a major role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Spirit starring Prabhas, though the collaboration did not materialize.
