Katrina Kaif has astonished Bollywood with her rapid rise to fame but sometimes it may all get a bit too much for her and she feels the need to fly away. “Becoming a film star in India has been a dream come true but you do always have to put on a performance, so sometimes it is good to get away,” she explains, “That’s when I head back to London. I can walk down Finchley High Street and no one recognises me. I certainly can’t do that in Mumbai or Delhi.”

Recently chosen as the model for India’s first official Barbie doll, Katrina says she is thrilled by the news. “To have your face on dolls that you’ve played with from childhood is quite flattering,” she says.

Although she has been off the screens for a few months, Katrina has a number of big banner movies in the can that should see her reputation further enhanced as the year unfolds. Amongst them is Blue, the underwater epic with a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta and Kylie Minogue in an item number. Then there’s New York with John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan Khan and Ginger Kroll. The third one to watch out for is Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor.
