It will be Amitabh Bachchan versus Salman Khan in the coming weeks as both shows, Kaun Banega Crorepati and Bigg Boss Season 4 are set to debut on different channels but at the same time slot. And while both channel heads do not believe this will sway audiences one way or another, Salman and Amitabh are ready to become television rivals. An executive for KBC claimed, “We are not afraid of the competition at all. We could have telecast KBC in a later slot so as to not clash with the other show. But we want to know which show the great Indian middleclass would prefer to watch. As far as we can see a show that fosters knowledge and provides Indian households with an engaging, clean, non-degenerative entertainment has nothing to fear.”
In fact, to keep things healthy, KBC will be hosting a party on the first day of the show as it will not only mark the season opening but will also celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday, and the entire Bigg Boss team will be invited to the bash which will be hosted by Jaya Bachchan.
Naturally, the rival channel is convinced BB4 will work immensely well especially since the whole country is currently raving over Salman after the success of Dabangg.
While Bachchan, previous host to Bigg Boss Season 3, was more philosophical, Salman intends on being honest and brutal. He is keen on adding more oil to any fires that may exist in the house. “Big B and Shilpa did a good job. My style will be very different from Mr Bachchan’s. We are two different personalities. Though I have always respected Big B, he is the biggest star of the country and I am just a kid,” he said at a press conference.
It was rumored that the likes of Akshay Kumar or Shah Rukh Khan would take over from Amitabh Bachchan. However, it was Salman who was picked over Kumar and Khan.
