Abhishek Bachchan has been very busy flying back and forth from Goa shooting for his upcoming film, Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se (KHJJ). Directed by Ashutosh Gowriker, it is a period drama where Abhishek will play the role of a Bengali freedom fighter, Surya Sen.

When it comes to the main leads of his films, Gowariker has a notch for working with the crem della crem of Bollywood. For Lagaan, he had Aamir Khan, for Swades, Shahrukh Khan was the leading man, while Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai were the main leads in Jodha Akbar.

KHJJS is a period thriller based on the book, “Do and Die” by Manini Chatterjee and is based on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. According to a source, “The film tells the story of the 1930’s revolutionary freedom fighters that attempted to raid the armoury of police forces in Chittagong, a province that was a part of British India.”

As the film wrapped up its shoot in Goa, Abishek described on his Twitter profile that KHJJS was a wonderful experience. He regards Ashutosh as “one of the best we have.”

Clearly feeling nostalgic about the end of the Goa shoot, he tweeted: “I’m going to miss this unit. Its weird, a unit becomes a family for the duration of a shoot and the min its complete everybody… [continued in a following tweet] …. Go their own ways. But carry great love and regard for eachother. And brilliant memories!”

Deepika Padukone is the leading lady in this film and the release date is expected later this year.
