The 2010 edition of Kingfisher’s Swimsuit Special Calendar was unveiled by Deepika Padukone over the week-end.
Deepika featured in the 2006 calendar and said, “In the beginning of my career, I was a part of the calendar and it’s becoming better every year. Girls in this calendar have done a fantastic job.”
The calendar boasts exotic locations and features top international models, making it one of the most sought after calendars in the world. The photographs have been taken by Atul Kasbekar.
When she was asked if featuring in the calendar was a good platform to enter Bollywood, Deepika said, “Well, I didn’t use it as a platform to enter the film industry, so I wouldn’t say that. You can’t be a model to be an actor. That’s not what I did. But yes, Farah [Khan] noticed me as a model and then decided to cast me in Om Shanti Om.”
UB group chairman, Vijay Mallya expressed how proud he was of the 2010 edition of the Kingfisher Swimsuit Special. He said the calendar has given an opportunity to many young models from India and around the world and hopes to continue to do so in the future.
Also spotted at the launch were Cyrus Broacha, Abhay Deol, R Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Rahul Dev, singer Anushka, Mandira Bedi and others.
Deepika made her debut in Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She has been previously linked with cricketer, Yuvraj Singh and was dating Ranbir Kapoor who she co-starred with in Bachna Ae Haseeno.25
