Konkona Sen Sharma, known for her range as an actress as well as for her marketability, has nothing but good things to say about Ranbir Kapoor. The actress, when asked about her far less experienced Wake Up Sid co-star, said he was “very talented, chivalrous and an absolute delight to work with.” She also promised that their onscreen chemistry makes the film magical.

Hmm… Guess the recent flap over the marketing of her Wake Up Sid character didn’t affect Konkona’s appreciation for her co-star. The actress didn’t comment publically about her frustration with being tagged in promotional articles as “older, not-so-good-looking,” in comparison to the slightly younger Ranbir, but her director Ayan Mukherjee apparently caught an earful. (Later, he angrily blamed a Facebook fan club of the film for the denigrating verbiage.) In her latest Times of India interview, however, Koko let all of that slide, preferring to stay positive.

About her appeal to directors: “I’m lucky to have done films with Adi [Aditya Chopra], Karan [Johar], Madhur [Bhandarkar], Vishal [Bhardwaj] and Anurag [Basu]… I guess they came to me because I was best suited for those roles.”

About her standing in mainstream Mumbai: “I have made several friends and I’m fortunate to be doing some good work.”

Those looking to catch Konkona’s latest good work will find Wake Up Sid onscreen 2 October. After that, she has at least three more films already in post-production, so audiences hungry for more Koko will have plenty of choices.
