Lara Dutta has been singing the praises of Akshay Kumar, her co-star in Blue and Jumbo. “I have enormous respect for Akshay not because I have worked with him in many projects and he is a thorough professional but also for the fact that he is a self-made man who has toiled hard to climb the ladder of success in Bollywood,” she explains, “He has a wealth of experience and I do fall back upon him for advice and guidance.”
Lara has a busy time ahead of her on the promotional circuit. As well as Blue, which also stars Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sanjay Dutt, and Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai with Govinda and Tabu, Lara will be next seen opposite Irrfan Khan in SRK’s Red Chillies production Billu Barber.
Although she has received offers, Lara is reluctant to make a Hollywood movie. “Many Hollywood films want to sign up an Indian star for a ten-minute ‘exotic face from the East’ quotient in the film,” she says, “I’m not interested in doing such films. I want to be in a film which has a slice of India or has me playing a character with a particular identity and not just a face from the East.”
