Lara Dutta has thrown her hat firmly into the ring of Bollywood comedy with three rib-ticklers for the summer that should certainly tickle your funny-bone. The first is Do Knot Disturb with Govinda, Sushmita Sen and Ranvir Shorey; the second is the multi-starrer Housefull which stars – amongst others, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan; and the third is Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai with Govinda and Tabu, which is currently embroiled in a legal battle over copyright.
“I love working with directors like Priyadarshan, David Dhawan and Sajid Khan. I think doing comedy is far tougher than serious roles,” Lara says, “I love it when they say they can’t think of anyone else for the part. However, I still feel I have to get that one performance-oriented role which would take me to another level. Every morning I wake up and say, I know it’s out there somewhere.”
Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is currently under a stay order until the end of this month but Lara is not disturbed. “I can’t comment on the matter since it’s subjudice,” she comments, “But Ravi Chopra is a man who knows what he’s doing.” 20th century Fox are claiming $1.4m damages arguing that the film is a remake of their 1992 film My Cousin Vinny.
