Composer Lalit Pandit had the rare privilege of working with the Singing Goddess Lata Mangeshkar in the final phase of her incredible career. He shares his thoughts in her incredible talent.
Says Lalit, “Lataji ka hona ek adbhut ittefaq hain. Bass ho gaya. Saraswati Mata Saraswati Mata ke paas chalin gayeen (That we had Lataji in our midst was a miracle. It just happened She was Saraswati Mata and she has now joined Saraswati Mata) . Lata Mangeshkar happened just as the creation of this earth happened. There are many explanations for how the earth was created. But the truth is, it is what it is… There is no explanation for the phenomenon called Lata Mangeshkar. Why did people reflexively rise to their feet when she entered a room? What was it in her personality that commanded such unprecedented reverence? Everyone wanted to know her.”
