It is with great regret that we inform you of the death of film director, Tapan Sinha (2 October 1924 – 15 January 2009). Sinha passed away due to bronco-pneumonia, a prolonged illness.
Pratibha Patil, India’s president, expresses her deep condolences to the fans and the family saying that “Shri Tapan Sinha shall always be remembered for his films”. She also goes on to say that the director will especially be remembered for his work on films such as ‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut‘ and ‘Kabuliwala‘.
In correspondence to The Hindu newspaper, his son Anindya Sinha, who is a renowned primatologist says “He will be remembered for his films but what was most important to him was that people saw his films and love his films”.
Sinha, who is a recipient of 19 National Awards will be remembered by the fans and the industry alike.
