Lyari, the densely populated locality in Karachi where Aditya Dhar’s blockbuster Dhurandhar is set, has taken deep offence to the depiction of their people as criminals and terrorist.
The populace and their politicians in Lyari see Dhurandhar as damaging to their image.
In retaliation, Pakistan’s Sindh government has announced a film of their own Mera Layari to counter what they see as the negative propaganda in Dhurandhar.
Interestingly in spite of allegations of Dhurandhar being anti-Pakistan, the Pakistanis are keenly interested in watching the film. Although banned in Pakistan spurious versions of the film are being lapped up across the border.
