We reported in January that Madhuri Dixit was going to be honored with a Padma Shri award. The Padma awards are given for exceptional work in many different fields including entertainment, sports, business and education. Madhuri and her husband Dr. Sriram Nene will be coming to Mumbai to accept the prestigious award on May 10th.
About winning the award Madhuri said, “Everyone works hard and to be acknowledged for it is a huge thing. I am honoured. As a young girl, I thought the Padma Shri was accorded only to scientists. Awards are important, but I never aspired for any, I just put my best foot forward.”
Her comeback film Aaja Nachle, though not a super hit and with some disappointed in it, was loved by many fans (including this reporter) and she said, “Everyone worked hard on the film and I had fun doing it. You win some and lose some. Filmmaking is unpredictable business.”
There is a rumor that the Barjatyas are planning to make a sequel to Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, the beloved film that starred Mads and Salman. About this she responded, “If the news is true, this too will be so much fun.”
We congratulate Madhuri on receiving this accolade for her incredible work in Hindi Cinema and are crossing our fingers that the rumor about Hum Aapke Hai Kaun will indeed come true!
