According to the latest buzz in Bollywood, actress Manisha Koirala is all set to make her comeback in Hindi films after a brief sabbatical. The 42-year old Nepali beauty who sizzled the B-Town with her performances in blockbuster hits like Khamoshi, 1942: A Love Story, Bombay and Dil Se, has signed three films already with two more in the pipeline.
When asked about her comeback projects, she said, “I will talk about my films later. Because I don’t know when the directors and producers are ready to make an announcement. But there are three films whose script I have okayed. I am meeting two more directors, I am okaying those scripts as well. This year I will be working. So next year would be a kind of comeback”.
Manisha expressed her plan of making a return to the B-Town in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra film festival, during the special screening of Vidhu’s 1989 film Parinda, which was a part of a retrospective of his films to mark his 30 years in Indian cinema. “He is one of the finest directors we have today. I was fortunate to work with him in 1942: A Love Story,” said Manisha.
Manisha had made her acting debut in Bollywood in 1991 with Subhash Ghai’s Saudagar which was a huge hit. The ‘ILU-ILU’ girl however, has had her share of ups and downs when she had to do several low budget films like Paisa Vasool (2004) and Sirf (2008).
It is believed that her lifestyle which included alcoholism lead to her downfall in Bollywood. However, it looks like Manisha has now lost all the extra weight and is all set to be back in action. Manisha got married to Samrat Dahal in 2010 and there were rumours of the couple going through a rough patch with their marriage.
It was recently reported that Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine is a bio-pic on the actress’ life. The director, however, has denied the reports. Reacting to the report, Manisha said “I hope he knows me well to make a movie on me.”
