Influenced by a range of different styles over his long career, 94-year-old celebrated painter MF Hussain has found his latest muses in Madhuri Dixit and Amrita Rao and plans to paint them both on the same canvas. Amrita, in particular, bowled him over with her performance in Vivah. “She is one of the most impressive actresses,” he says, “She and Madhuri exude unique qualities of Indian womanhood. The way they sit and talk with an unparalleled body language speaks volumes.”

Maqbool plans on combining media by making a film with the actresses focusing on the painting – although the full details have yet to be worked out. “Hussain has even asked Madhuri and Amrita to visit him during Diwali this year to discuss the logistics of the film,” states a source close to the painter.

Others apparently share MF Hussain’s view because it appears that Amrita has been chosen to be a judge on Star TV’s The Perfect Bride, the latest reality show. She will join Malaika Arora Khan and Shekar Suman as judges. “Amrita Rao was supposed to grace the show as the special judge for one particular episode,” explains a source for the programme, “But she got such a good response from the channel authorities and production house that she has now been roped in as permanent judge of the show.”
