Vinay Shukla’s tikhi, spicy and delectable, Mirch, is now available on DVD and VCD, released by Reliance Home Video.
Mirch has four short stories that have the central theme of women’s sexuality and more important, emancipation. Loosely based on stories from the Panchatantra, Mirch has mild doses of eroticism, both visual and verbal. What catches one’s fancy isn’t the romps of cheating wives or the obvious sexual innuendos in the dialogues, but how cleverly and deftly the women slip out of the most challenging situations!
Mirch boasts of some of the best talent of Bollywood: Konkona Sen Sharma, Boman Irani, Shreyas Talpade, Shahana Goswami, Raima Sen, Arunoday Singh, Tisca Chopra, Rajpal Yadav, Prem Chopra, Ila Arun, Sushant Singh and Saurabh Shukla. There is a sizzling item number by Mahie Gill as well.
Mirch is a story about a struggling filmmaker Maanav (Arunoday Singh), who is unwilling to compromise on the script he has written. His girlfriend Ruchi (Shahana Goswami), a successful film editor, arranges for him to meet Nitin (Sushant Singh), a film producer. Though Nitin likes the script, he is not very sure of its commercial prospects. Maanav then suggests a story from the Panchtantra: four stories on infidelity, woven together by a common story. The film itself echoes this structure, with four stories mingling with the main narrative.
Mirch tackles the taboo subject of adultery committed by women, but with careful & deft strokes. All situations in the film are dealt with humor and wit.
Sweta Agnihotri, Chief Operating Officer, Reliance Home Video has to say, “Mirch is a very different tale that applauds the wit & power wielded by women. A must-watch for every man, along with his woman!”
Mirch is available on DVD (Rs.199) & VCD (Rs.99).
