Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment are expanding the award-winning crime thriller series, Mirzapur, beyond streaming with a cinematic adaptation. Bringing the world of Mirzapur to the big screen for the first time, Mirzapur: The Movie will release on 4 September.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, the film features the return of Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Shweta Tripathi as Gajgamini Gupta aka Golu, Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, and more!
Apparently taking place before Season one series, Mirzapur: The Movie, which just recently wrapped filming, will tell an untold chapter from the Mirzapur universe.
From season one synopsis: Mirzapur is an amped-up portrayal of India’s heartland and youth. It’s a world replete with drugs, guns, and lawlessness, where caste, power, egos, and tempers intersect and violence is the only way of life. With heart-pounding action, violence at an operatic scale, gangsters with sharp minds and dry humor, Mirzapur is a hinterland story that is as raw as it gets.
